Loyalty cards for cafés

A café sees its regulars more often than almost any other business: a coffee on the way to work, another after lunch, a slice of cake on Friday. Visits are short and the queue doesn’t wait. Here is how a Loyever loyalty card can fit that rhythm.

How café customers visit

Many café regulars come several times a week, often at the same time of day, and spend about the same each time. They pay quickly and leave, so anything that slows the counter down gets skipped. Most live or work nearby and pass your door on the way to somewhere else.

That makes a café the natural home of the stamp card. The rule fits on a cup sleeve, and the reward comes round often enough to keep people counting.

A suggested card setup

Start simple; you can add more later.

  • Card type: stamps, one per coffee or drink.
  • First reward: a free coffee at 10 stamps. In other words, buy 9 coffees, get the 10th free.
  • Reward name: “Free coffee”, exactly as it should appear on the card.
  • Later, if you want: a bigger reward for your most loyal customers. One card can hold up to three rewards.

If you also sell a lot of food, a points card may suit you better, with 1 point for every 1 ₼. For a café that mostly sells coffee, stamps are easier to explain.

Reminders that help

Switch on a few reminders and let them run:

  • Nearly there: when a customer is 2 stamps from a free coffee, a short note tells them. It gives them a reason to pick your café tomorrow.
  • Reward ready: the moment the balance reaches the reward.
  • We miss you: a friendly message from you after 21 days without a visit.
  • Birthday treat: sent on the customer’s birthday, when you open.

The wording follows your card type, so customers read “2 stamps”, never a mix of units. Every message goes out during your opening hours only.

At the till, in the morning rush

The customer holds up their phone while you make the coffee. Staff scan the QR code with a phone or tablet at the counter, tap once to add the stamp, and the card updates on the customer’s phone. If someone orders three coffees for the office, staff set the quantity and add three stamps at once.

The fraud guard runs quietly in the background. By default the same card can’t earn again within 30 minutes, so a card isn’t scanned twice for one order, and each stamp records who added it. When a free coffee is due, staff see a confirmation before they give it, and can undo it for 2 minutes afterwards.

Loyalty for everyone.
