Loyalty cards for shops

A perfume shop, a cosmetics store or a clothing boutique sees its customers less often than a café, but each purchase is bigger, and customers compare prices before they choose where to buy. A loyalty card here should reward what someone spends over time, not the number of times they walk in.

How shop customers buy

Shop customers come when they need something: a new fragrance, a refill of a favourite cream, a gift, a new season’s clothes. Baskets range from a small item to a large order, and the same customer may spend very different amounts from one month to the next.

Many customers already carry plastic discount cards from several shops. They are happy to have one more benefit, as long as it costs them nothing to carry.

A suggested card setup: discount levels

A tiered discount card suits a perfume or cosmetics shop well. For example:

  • Standard: 3% off from the first purchase.
  • Silver: 5% off once the customer’s total purchases reach 300 ₼.
  • Gold: 10% off from 1,000 ₼ in total purchases.

You can set up to four levels, each with its own name, starting amount and discount from 1% to 50%. The level is set by the member’s total purchases on this card, and a new level applies from the next purchase. The card in Wallet shows the member’s level, their discount and how much is left to the next level, which gives a good reason to come back to you rather than to a competitor.

Or cashback in manats

If you prefer to give money back, a cashback card returns a share of each purchase as a bonus, for example 5%. The bonus can be spent from the next purchase on, and you can limit how much of one receipt it may pay, for example half. Customers see their bonus in manats on the card, which is easy to understand at a glance.

Depending on your plan, you can run both: a discount card for regulars and a separate card for a particular product line.

Messages that help

Money cards have no stamps to count down, so the reminders are about the customer:

  • Welcome: a short thank-you when the card is added.
  • Birthday treat: sent on the customer’s birthday when you open.
  • We miss you and Gone very quiet: after 21 and 60 days without a purchase.

When a new collection or a new fragrance arrives, write a short message of your own, up to 150 characters, with the customer’s first name. If you add your shop’s location, the card can also appear on the lock screen when the customer is nearby.

At the till

Staff scan the customer’s card in the browser or in the Loyever Staff app, see which discount to give or how much bonus is available, and record the amount paid. If the customer’s phone is not at hand, staff find them by name. Every entry records the staff member, the device and the location, and a very large receipt needs the owner’s approval, so a typing mistake doesn’t turn into a higher level.

If your shop uses till software (POS), it can record sales automatically through the public API and webhooks on the Pro plan.

Loyalty for everyone.
